Q: How do I enter the "Musician of the Year" annual competition?
A: The "Musician of the Year" is an independent annual multi-round competition held every April. Seasonal winners can use 6 award points⭐ to enter the competition. No additional application fee is required.
Q: How does the "Musician of the Year" competition work?
A: Musician of the Year has a First Round, Semi-final Round and a Final Round, using the same video submitted. Each round has a different jury panel. All instruments/vocal are competing in the same category. First Round results will be determined by jury voting. A maximum of 60 candidates (total number in all categories) will be selected to the Final Round according to their marks in the Semi-final Round. The final ranking will be determined by the total score a candidate obtained in both rounds. If there is a tie, audience vote will determine the final results. Q: Can I use my old performance videos for the "Musician of the Year"?
A: No you can't. Competitors must say “London Young Musician of the Year 2022” at the beginning of the video, to ensure that the recording has been made specifically for this competition. This speech cannot be a video clip edited onto an old video. Read full Video Requirements«
Q: Can I apply to more than one category?
A: Candidates can use 6 Award Points to enter ONE category only.
Q: Can I play multiple instruments/vocal in one video?
A: Yes. But when performing a different instrument in different piece, candidates MUST say/show the opening declaration again. This is to ensure the performance were newly recorded and specifically made for the year-end competition.
Q: Can I submit separate videos for different pieces for "Musician of the Year"?
A: No. Each candidate can only send one video for the entering category. The video must meet the requirement of the category’s limited time.
Q: What is the time limit for the competition video?
A: For Talent Category (age 10 & under), the video must less than 5 minutes; For Artist Category (age 15 & under), the video must less than 6 minutes; For Master Category (age 28 & under), the video must less than 7 minutes.

Q: Do I get a certification if I didn’t win?
A: Yes. All candidates of "Musician of the Year" will receive an e-certificate and a special Musician of the Year Star e-card. No jury comments provided in this annual competition.
Q: How long will it be until the results are announced?
A: For the "Musician of the Year", the final results will be announced after the last livestreaming day.
Q: What is the judging principle of the "Musician of the Year"?
A: "Musician of the Year" looks for the musicians who have excellent musical skills, strong characters, and fantastic creativity in their video performance. Judges will score the performance video based on the following aspects: 1) fluency and accuracy 2) character and expressiveness 3) performing technique 4) creativity and stage presentation.
Q: Are the winning awards of the year-end competition free on cost?
A: For "Musician of the Year", First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize awards will be sent to winner for free (one set only); One teddy bear will be sent to the Fans' Favourite Award winner or winning group for free; Paper certificate and medal for all Awards will be at additional cost.
